A social enterprise coffee kiosk.

The coffee kiosk is a stand-alone unit installed outside the Sunshine Magistrate’s Court in a designated area of the pedestrian forecourt adjacent to the Court entrance.

The key aims are:

To engage and offer training and work experience for offenders on Community Correction Orders, prisoners on day release and parolees, that have been referred to the kiosk program by Corrections Victoria;

To assist the development and impact of the VACRO Children’s Foundation by generating funds that will;

  • Support the trial of new and innovative services that meet the needs of children of offenders and their families.
  • Support the expansion and/or continuation of services that provide relevant supports to the children of offenders and their families.

A further benefit to be derived from this proposal is increased likelihood of improved employment prospects for offenders participating in the program. Individuals receive training, development and ‘real’ work experience, all tailored at increasing their employability.

All profits will support the work of the VACRO Children’s Foundation.

This project is funded by the William Buckland Foundation and the Besen Family Foundation.

The program can work with anyone who is interested in learning bike skills, enjoys working and learning in small groups and is interested in reconditioning bikes for those in the surrounding community.

Second Chance Cycles provides a supportive space for hose who are on a community work placements or those who just want to pop in and get some advice on how to fix their bike and caters for all participants who enjoy tinkering, developing and using their skills to give something back to their local community.

Second Chance Cycles is located less that 10 minute walk from Victoria Park or Collingwood train stations.
