TRAINING

VACRO provides training programs.

The aim of this training is to build the capacity of health and welfare professions to meet demands in responding to clients who come into contact with the criminal justice system.

Our training modules are of benefit to those working in a broad range of community agencies including:

  • family services;

  • schools;

  • legal centres;

  • drug and alcohol services;

  • mental health services; and

  • employment services.

IMPACT ON FAMILY & CHILDREN

We can tailor a training session to suit your workplace needs.

An exciting new development in the SKY program is the opportunity for your organisation to attend tailored training sessions about a specialised area of our work; children, families and the criminal justice system. Training can be specially designed for the needs of school staff, Child FIRST agencies or others in the field who believe it may enhance their practice.

The training will equip your staff with:

§  knowledge of the Victorian Adult Criminal Justice System;

§  understanding the impacts of this system on families and children at different ages and stages;

§  the best ways in which to identify and engage these families;

§  strategies for assisting families to navigate the justice system;

§  strategies for managing the impacts on children's behaviours; and

§  awareness of the resources available in this area of work

Training can be delivered at your workplace, with the length of the session dependent on the organisation's needs.
